SRIKANTH,SINDHU AND SAI PRANEETH PROGRESS INTO ROUND OF 16 ON THE THIRD DAY OF BWF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2018

Srikanth had to dig deep into his reserves to win the second round match against Pablo Abian of Spain in three sets 21-15, 12-21, 21-14 which lasted just over 1 hour. The Spaniard played out of his skins and fought with the Indian for each and every point of the match. The 5th seeded won the first set quite easily in 18 minutes but 47th ranked player came back strongly to win the second set and drag the match into the third set.

The 23-year-old Indian was down 9-11 in the third set after that he upped his game to next level and brought all his strokes into play to seal the match in his favor. The match had served as a good practice for the Indian to face tight situations in the upcoming matches. Srikanth faces Daren Liew of Malaysia in the pre-quarterfinals.

P V Sindhu dominated the first round match against Fitirani of Indonesia to win the game in straight sets 21-14 and 21-9 which lasted just 36 minutes. Sindhu stamped her class over the entire encounter to go into the round of 16 against Sung Ji Hyun of South Korea.

Sai Praneeth outclassed his opponent from Spain to win the match in straight sets 21-18,21-11 and go into the round of 16 with full of confidences. In the next match, he faces Hans Kristian Solberg Vittinghus of Denmark.

Both the men's doubles pair from India suffered losses in the second round match but they have to be applauded for the fight they put up in their respective matches.

The young combination of Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty displayed a great level of badminton against the 8th seeded pair from Denmark. The Denmark duo won the first set 21-18 but the Indian pair came back to win the second set 21-15. The higher ranked opponent showed their experience to win the third set 21-14 and seal the match. Match lasted for 67 minutes, it shows the amount of effort Indian duo had put into the match. They should be proud of their efforts and take confidence from this match into future encounters.

The experienced pair of Manu Attri and Sumeeth Reddy came agonizingly close to win the match against Japanese seeded 7th in the tournament. The Indian pair won the first set 24-22 and lost the second set 21-13. They battled really hard in the third set but lost it 21-16 to give the victory to their Japanese opponents. They can take a lot of positives out of this match and use it to win the matches against higher ranked opponents in the future.

The women's doubles pair of Ashwini Ponappa and Sikki Reddy lost their second match to the second-seeded Japanese pair of Yuki Fukushima and Sayaka Hirota in straight sets  14-21,15-21.

H S Prannoy had a bad day in the office to lose his match to Ygor Coehlo of Brazil in three sets 21-8, 18-21,15-21.  Sameer Verma lost his second round match to the legendary Lin Dan in straight sets 17-21,14-21 lasted for 37 minutes.
